Last Minute Travel Plans

It is six o’clock on Tuesday night, and you decide that if you do not get away this weekend you are going to go nuts. Before the internet was an option, you may have been stuck paying top dollar for everything. But now, you can get great deals on everything from air fare to hotel costs even if you do not have weeks or months to plan ahead for your getaway.

When you travel on short notice, the first thing you need to be is flexible. Be willing to go wherever you can get the best deal. You may be able to choose to go to a beach, for instance, but be open minded about which beach you visit and take the deal that is the best.

Traveling on short notice adds to the adventure and excitement of travel. Keeping a list of all the things you need to attend to before you go allows you to travel freely without worry. Use your day planner to keep a list of things to take care of before you leave town. Have a quick plan in place to find someone to pick up the mail or walk the dog.

Last minute travel can actually be less expensive because you can snap up spots left open by last minute cancellations. Airlines and hotels want to book these quickly so that they do not loose revenue on the open spot. They are happier accepting less money than getting no money on the reservations.

Some of the most memorable trips are the ones you did not even plan for. If the time is right, get up and go!
